Frequently asked questions.

Authorization and Coverage

What are the requirements to receive services?

The requirements to receive services include a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) made by a licensed physician or psychologist, a copy of the most recent comprehensive diagnostic evaluation (CDE), and a referral or other justification for ABA services.

How do I get a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation (CDE)?

Contact your pediatrician or primary care physician or make an appointment with a provider who is experienced with providing evaluations for autism spectrum disorder (ASD), such as a developmental pediatrician, psychiatrist, or neurologist. The diagnosing provider will conduct a thorough evaluation to determine whether the individual meets the established criteria for an ASD diagnosis. Your insurance company may also be able to provide a referral for you in your area.

What do ABA services cost and are they covered by insurance?

In most cases, ABA services are covered through private (commercial) and state funded (Medicaid) insurance plans. We understand that navigating insurance coverage can be challenging, and our team will work with you to understand your benefits and any out-of-pocket costs for these services.

What insurance plans does Inspire ABA accept?

Inspire ABA accepts a variety of insurance plans, and is regularly working to add additional carriers to our networks to best meet the needs of clients in our service areas . Call us at 727-213-8851 and we will help you understand your current benefits and discuss any additional programs you may qualify for to help with costs.

Does Inspire ABA accept private-pay?

Yes, Inspire ABA accepts private pay agreements. We will provide our current private-pay rates upon request.

Client Age and Needs

I’ve been told my child is (or I am) too old to receive ABA services by other local ABA agencies. Can you help?

The typical client age range for clients at Inspire ABA is 2 to 22 years, although we do provide treatment for clients who fall outside of this age range.

My child has aged out of our prior ABA services. Can Inspire ABA help?

At Inspire, our clients aren’t discharged from our services just because they hit a certain age. We have providers who have experience providing ABA services to all ages and provide treatment for as long as our clients need them.

We have been denied ABA services previously because my child engages in challenging behavior or other behavior that puts them at risk. Does Inspire ABA accept clients who may be more challenging?

Yes! Inspire ABA providers have the training and support to assess and treat complex challenging behaviors such as self-injurious behavior (SIB), aggression, pica, elopement, spitting, and more. Inspire ABA was founded as a place where individuals with these support needs could turn to for help.

Provider Screening and Training

What kind of training do Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) receive prior to working with clients?

At Inspire ABA, we dedicate significant time and resources to orientation and ongoing training of our team. Our RBTs complete a 40-hour training program and pass a certification exam prior to hire. Once they are hired, the Inspire ABA team reviews clinical expectations and policies during our orientation process and provides and opportunity for RBTs to shadow our existing teams.

When RBTs are ready to be matched with clients, our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) work closely with them during their first several sessions to ensure they are comfortable with our clients and understand their treatment plans before working with them alone.

Of course, our BCBAs provide ongoing supervision and support to each of our RBTs to maintain the highest quality of care.

What type of background checks are done on your employees?

All of our employees undergo a thorough screening process, including: national, state, and local criminal screening, a DOJ sex offender screening, and a drug screen prior to hire.

Ongoing ABA Services

How does a BCBA create a behavior support plan (BSP)?

Our BCBAs work collaboratively with our clients, their family members, and other stakeholders to create a truly individualized BSP. After completing the intake process and receiving authorization to begin the assessment, one of our BCBAs will schedule an interview with the family, observe the client in their home and/or other settings (e.g., school), and conduct a variety of assessments that identify both a client’s strengths and areas where skill building is needed. The BSPs we create often address communication, social, self-help, and play skills in addition to reducing interfering behaviors such as aggression, self-injurious behavior, property destruction, or pica.

How often will we see the BCBA and RBT?

Our team will work with you to come up with a regular schedule of ABA services. Usually, RBTs provide direct behavior services (DBT) 3-5 days per week, depending on availability and need. On average, our clients receive 15-20 hours of DBT per week.

Most families will see their BCBA 1-2 times per week. The BCBA will oversee the training and supervision of the RBT. In addition, the BCBA provides family education and support related to the BSP and clinical goals. Our BCBAs work with the family as a complete entity, not just the client, to ensure the best clinical progress is made.

Do you offer telehealth services?

Yes! Inspire ABA does offer telehealth services provided by our BCBAs. Telehealth can be provided by BCBAs alone in many parts of the country through Inspire Anywhere Telehealth or can be provided with in-home DBT provided by our RBTs. If you are interested in telehealth services, please discuss with a member of our team.
